COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course assumes a basic understanding of sound as it relates to Hatha Yoga and is intended to take individuals deeper into an exploration of the history of Nāda Yoga, mantra, chanting, sound and meditation, the art of listening, basic music theory and technique and voice tone and development. How to bring these practices into the Yoga class setting and provide direct and effective instructions will also be covered.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
To encourage each student to explore personally the interrelationship between yoga and sound and learn to pass these experiences onto their students. To understand basic sound theory and technique from both a historical yoga perspective as well as a modern perspective in order to deepen their personal experience. To understand Sanskrit pronunciation and voice tone development along with how to provide effective instructions to integrate sound into yoga classes.
